ITEM:
Presentation of two (2) newly elected members, Jose Barragan and Justin Phillips, to serve on the San Luis Fire Department Public Safety Personnel Local Retirement Board. (Tadeo A. De La Hoya, Chairman)
SUMMARY:
Elected board member Diego Jimenez’s term ended due to the resignation of his employment on September 17, 2019. A secret ballot election was held, and Captain Jose Barragan was selected by the members on October 20, 2020. Captain Jose Barragan was sworn in with the City Clerk on October 27, 2020.
Also, Elected board member Cpt. Cesar Mora's term is expired as of September 2020. A secret ballot election was held, and member Justin Phillips was selected by the members on January 27, 2022. Member Phillips was sworn in with the City Clerk on February 2, 2022.
There are 2 members of the board elected by the members under ARS 38-847(A)(1) (1.) For political subdivisions or Indian tribes, the mayor or chief elected official or a designee of the mayor or chief elected official approved by the respective governing body as chairperson, two members elected by secret ballot by members employed by the appropriate employer and two citizens, one of whom shall be the head of the merit system, or the head’s designee from among the other members of the merit system, if it exists for the group of members, appointed by the mayor or chief elected official and with the approval of the governing body of the city or the governing body of the employer. The appointed two citizens shall serve on both local boards in a city or Indian tribes where both fire and police department employees are members.
