Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding correction to the Sister City agreement approved on September 27, 2023. (Olivia Jenkins, Operations Coordinator)
SUMMARY:
The Mexican Consul in Yuma, Arizona, Dulce María Álvarez, brought to the City of San Luis the opportunity to become a Sister City with a municipality in the Mexican State of Sonora. The City Council approved to become a sister city with the City of Magdalena de Kino. However, in a follow-up meeting on October 19, 2023, with staff from the Consulate of Mexico, it was brought to our attention that the agreement is with City Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico. Magdalena is the governing municipality, and Magdalena de Kino is part of the municipality, Magdalena.
The City of San Luis, Arizona, and Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, will be signing the official agreement that states that Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, will become our sister city. The revised sister agreement is being presented for approval.
