The City of San Luis Fire Department made an introductory presentation regarding this on April 6, 2016.

At that time we indicated we would take our request to adopt NFPA 1 Fire Code 2012 before the City of San Luis Building Appeals Board to introduce this code to them.  That meeting took place on April 29, 2016.  They voted unanimously to adopt NFPA 1 Fire Code 2012 and the corresponding ordinance with the amendments to the NFPA 1 Fire Code 2012 Code.

This item is now being presented, as promised, for the first reading.  The Resolution to adopt NFPA 1 Fire Code 2012 as a public record by resolution is on today's consent agenda.

The Amendments were developed following discussions and actions by the City of San Luis Fire Department, City of San Luis Building Appeals Board and ultimately the City of San Luis City Council.

The City of San Luis Fire Department is currently using (enforcing) the NFPA 1 Uniform Fire Code 2003.  The City of Yuma and the City of Somerton have adopted the NFPA 1 Fire Code 2012.  When adopted, municipal fire departments, code enforcement, building construction and building inspections will be under the same Fire Code.
