Action Requested:
Motion
ITEM:
Discussion and possible action to approve construction work for Municipal Court and/or approve payment for work which has been completed. (Glenn Gimbut, City Attorney)
SUMMARY:
During fiscal year 2014/2015 the Municipal Court embarked on a remodeling project at the court. This project encountered problems due to non-compliance with the City's Purchasing Code. The City Council approved settlement with one contractor at the meeting of July 8, 2015. However there are still other multiple vendors that need to be dealt with. Attached is a spread sheet showing the work that has been completed for which authorization for payment is requested, and work that needs to be done, for which a proposal has been received, but which is pending approval before the work begins. The remainder of the work remaining to be done is approximately $8,300.00 spread over three vendors. What is requested complies with §36.01.B of the City Code which allows purchases of less than $5,000 to occur without formality. The description on the attached spreadsheet is self explanatory. The quotes for work that remains to be done is: Julio Juarez to install carpet - $1,650; Sierra Coating to paint - $2,500.00; and Big Bob's Carpet to buy carpet which is $3,955.28. The work that has been done that is awaiting payment is: Maya's Construction - $985.10; Mic Homes - $2,250.00; Jose Serrano - $627.45.
RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I hereby move to authorize payment to Mic Homes in the amount of $2,250.00, Maya's Construction in the amount of $985.10; and Jose Serrano in the amount of $627.45 for work performed at the Municipal Court and authorize work to be done at the Municipal Court by Sierra Coating in an amount not to exceed $2,500.00; Julio Juarez in an amount not to exceed $1,650.00; and carpet tile to be purchased from Big Bob's Flooring Outlet in an amount not to exceed $3,955.28. That no further remodeling work at the Municipal Court is to occur without Council approval.
