ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding formal approval and ratification of the City of San Luis employee benefits plan for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. (Kay Marion Macuil, City Attorney)

SUMMARY:

The Employees Benefits Trust was fully advised of the proposal of San Luis Benefits Consultant Susan Posada for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.  The Employee Benefits Trust recommended said Benefit Plan proposal.
 
At the April 28, 2017 Budget Retreat, San Luis Benefits Consultant Susan Posada made the same proposal to City Council.  She made a complete detailed PowerPoint presentation and fully advised City Council of the benefits proposed to be provided and the costs involved and historical cost comparisons.  Attached to this Agenda Item is her presentation.  Also attached are the minutes of the presentation which were approved by City Council on July 12, 2017.

Although City Council formally approved the budget for the benefits plan, it was discovered that the benefits plan itself had not been approved.

The City implemented the Employee Benefits Plan as presented at the April 28, 2017, Budget Retreat for the Fiscal Year 2017-2018.  Therefore, staff is presenting this item for formal approval going forward through the end of the fiscal year June 30, 2018 and for formal ratification for the implementation of  Employee Benefits Plan since the start of the fiscal year on July 1, 2017.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE AND RATIFY THE 2017-2018 BENEFITS PLAN AS PRESENTED AT THE APRIL 28, 2017 BUDGET RETREAT.
