Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding approval of Resolution 2004.  A resolution of the Mayor and the Council of the City of San Luis, Arizona, to approve an Addendum to the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of San Luis and Yuma County for the purpose of providing mandatory weekend and holiday court services for the San Luis Municipal Court. (Kristin McManus, Municipal Court Judge)

The City of San Luis has previously entered into an IGA with Yuma County and its Justice Court to provide for weekend and holiday coverage for the San Luis Municipal Court.  Under Rule 4.1 of the Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure, a person who is arrested must be brought before a judge within 24 hours, even on weekends and holidays. Under this IGA, Yuma County provides a judge and other necessary personnel and materials to conduct hearings on weekends and holidays to cover all of the local courts. The City has entered into this IGA for several years, and under the contract, the City agrees to pay the County based on the case load as calculated during the fiscal year. Costs vary from year to year but have always been under $2,500.00, with the amount in 2016 being $1,159.00. The County is requesting that Council approve the Addendum for the cost calculated for the last fiscal year in the amount of $1,159.00.
