ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding authorization to purchase two (2) new 2018 unmarked police Ford Super Crew XL F150 pickup trucks using Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Project Budgeted funds.  (Richard Jessup, Acting Chief of Police)

SUMMARY:

The San Luis Police Department is seeking approval for the purchase of two (2) new 2018 Ford Super Crew XL F150 4X4 pickup trucks. These trucks would be replacing a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria with over 160,000 miles and a 2006 Chevrolet Impala with over 120,000 miles that are currently in field operation and have proven to be unreliable for police duty or worth investing to further repair.
 
The funds for the purchase of these vehicles were approved as a Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Project for the fully marked Ford SUV police vehicle and a fully marked Ford F150 animal control service vehicle.  
     Capital Project Budget FY18 account: 100-999-90000 
      (1) Marked SUV Police Vehicle $47,850.00 &
      (1) Ford F150 Animal Control services vehicle $ 49,460.00. 
However, those vehicles were under-budgeted by $25,104.36, according to quotes received from Peoria Ford, which is the Ford Dealership holding the State Contract # ADSPO17-166117 for police vehicle purchases. 
 
With the budgeted amount, there are sufficient funds to purchase two (2) 2018 unmarked Ford Super Crew XL F150 4x4 pickup trucks through Alexander Ford of Yuma using the City of Yuma purchasing contract  #2013-20000119.  Using the Yuma contract is authorized under San Luis City Code-Purchasing Section 36.09, Cooperative Purchasing. 

Alexander Ford provided an individual vehicle quote for a 2018 Ford Super Crew XL 4x4 pickup truck of $38,928.25. The total cost for both Ford F150 pickup trucks is $77,856.50.  

 

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF TWO  2018 FORD F-150 4X4 PICKUP TRUCKS AS PRESENTED, USING THE CITY OF YUMA CONTRACT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $77,856.50
AS PER CITY PROCUREMENT CODE 36.09 COOPERATIVE PURCHASING.
