Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the proposed agreement with Portable Practical Education Preparation, Inc. (PPEP) for Fiscal Year 2021-2022. (Tadeo A. De La Hoya, City Manager)
SUMMARY:
Service: The Youth Build Program of Portable Practical Education Preparation (PPEP), Inc., provides low-income youth, ages 17-24, education to obtain their GED, and AmeriCorp opportunities for post-secondary education. Students learn job skills and leadership development. Students in the program serve their communities by building affordable housing and providing community services. Training opportunities have expanded beyond construction work to training for medical office assistants and nutritionists. This year they are recruiting 42 students. The contract requires that at least 30 students be residents of San Luis.
Amount: The city has entered into an agreement with PPEP, Inc., in the past. The City Council has directed staff to budget $30,000.00 for the Youth Build Program and other training programs for the Fiscal Year 2021-2022.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT WITH PPEP, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000.00.
