ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the transfer of funds for ambulance autobody repairs.  (Angel Ramirez, Fire Chief)

SUMMARY:

Back in December one of our ambulances was involved in an accident on Highway 95. The ambulance sustained some damage that needed to be repaired at an auto body shop. All these repairs took approximately 10 months to complete.  These ambulances are a vital part of our daily operations since we put many miles on them throughout the year.

Since the repairs took longer than expected, it carried over into this budget year, and the cost was not budgeted. Therefore, we are asking for a budget transfer to be approved.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,755.89 FROM MONEY BUDGETED FOR A POTENTIAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT WHICH WAS NOT AWARDED TO SAN LUIS THIS YEAR, TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S VEHICLE MAINTENANCE FUND TO PAY FOR AMBULANCE REPAIRS.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT (IF THIS IS A BUDGET TRANSFER, YOU MUST ATTACH THE BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FORM):

The Vehicle Maintenance expense account budget is not enough to cover the Ambulance repair cost, we are asking the Mayor and City Council authorization to make a budget transfer from account 255-210-90015.219 in the amount of $17,760.00 to the Ambulance account 340-341-70000 Vehicle Maintenance to have enough capacity to proceed with the repair cost payment. We have budget capacity from the matching funds allocated to the CDBG Merrill Ave grant since we will not be receiving this grant this year.
