Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding the contract with the Campesinos Sin Fronteras for the 29th Dia del Campesino event on December 1, 2023, in San Luis, Arizona, for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024. (Jenny Torres, Assistant City Manager)
SUMMARY:
Service: The Dia del Campesino is an annual event in San Luis since 1994, organized by the non-profit Campesinos Sin Fronteras, which collaborates with other non-profits as well as government agencies to provide many services. The event is free and open to the public providing a hot breakfast, medical screenings and vaccinations, and other services. Musical entertainment is also provided for the event.
Amount: The city approved the entering into a contract for the Dia del Campesino for the first time this year at the October 25, 2023, Council Meeting. The contract is for $5,000 for the fiscal year budget 2023-2024. In previous years the city informally provided logistic and other supports from the Police Department and Parks and Recreation Department. However, with the growth of the city, the city can no longer divert its resources. As a transition, the city agreed to provide monetary support this year.
As directed at the October 25, 2023 Council Meeting, staff has prepared a contract. In addition to approving the contract, staff requests the budget transfer as described in the fiscal impact.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT WITH THE CAMPESINOS SIN FRONTERAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00 FOR THE DIA DEL CAMPESINO EVENT FOR DECEMBER 1, 2023, AND APPROVE THE BUDGET TRANSFER AS DESCRIBED IN THE FISCAL IMPACT PORTION OF THIS AGENDA ITEM.
