ITEM:

Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding Resolution No.1166.  A resolution of the City of San Luis declaring as a public record certain documents filed with the City Clerk entitled “Public Works Standards for Yuma County Volume III” as adopted by Yuma County on August 21, 2006, “Construction Standard Detail Drawings, February 2009 of the City of Yuma”, “Uniform Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction as sponsored and distributed by the Maricopa Association of Governments 2015 Edition”, and “City of San Luis Supplement to the 2015 MAG Uniform Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction and to the City of Yuma Construction Standard Detail Drawings.” (Eulogio Vera, Public Works Director)

SUMMARY:

The City of San Luis has never adopted Public Works Standards as a stand alone set of regulations yet it has required them for development of infrastructure for years.  The City of Yuma recently updated their standards to the Maricopa Association of Governments standards, which are the principle standards used throughout the state.  The County of Yuma is updating their standards to conform to what Yuma has done.  What is proposed is what Yuma has done, with some minor changes to conform to our particular infrastructure and to adopt polymer manholes and LED street lighting like Somerton with the addition of a second clean-out as previously requested by City Council.  It is important to adopt these standards ahead of new subdivision development, otherwise we will get substandard infrastructure.

This resolution makes the standards a public record so that they may be enacted by reference in Ordinance No. 359, which will be considered following this agenda item.
