Terminate Contract for Civil Legal Services with Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, PA. 

Currently, civil legal services are provided by Mr. Joseph Langel of Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, PA. The City Council has a policy to periodically review the city's professional service contracts and the current firm has been under contract since July 1, 2013. Consistent with this policy, the City of Ramsey solicited  a Request for Proposals for Civil Legal Services and subsequently interviewed five law firms and selected the firm of Holstad & Knaak, PLC to represent the city subject to the review and approval of a contract for services. 

Subject to the approval of a contract with Holstad & Knaak, PLC at this evening's meeting, it is recommended that the City Council terminate the contract with its current law firm, Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, PA, as provided in the current contract Section 6.7(1) that "During the term of this Agreement, either party may terminate the Agreement upon thirty (30) calendar days written notice to the other party."  Because of the thirty (30) day notice requirement the termination date is listed as October 31, 2021, with the new firm proposed to commence November 1, 2021.

This action is recommended subject to the approval of a contract with Holstad & Knaak, PLC at this evening's meeting.  If a new contract is not authorized it is recommended that the current contract for legal services remain in place.
