Approve an Exemption for a Gambling License for Ducks Unlimited-Game Fair

The attached application is from the Ducks Unlimited - South Metro Flyway for exemption from a lawful gambling license to hold a fund-raising raffle at Game Fair on August 18, 2013.

Ducks Unlimited is the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation.

Ducks Unlimited meets all of the requirements which allow them to remain exempt from licensing, primarily from the standpoint that commodities to be raffled are greater than $1,500 but less than $50,000 for the calendar year.

Approval requires nothing more than a motion followed by a letter to the Gambling Control Board, while if the request is denied, a formal resolution for denial would need to be prepared and submitted to the Gambling Control Board.

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for Ducks Unlimited - South Metro Flyway to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 18, 2013.

Motion to recommend City Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for Ducks Unlimited - South Metro Flyway to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 18, 2013 and authorize staff to submit a letter to the Gambling Control Board stating approval.
