Adopt Resolution #13-08-130 Authorizing The Request of $23,000 From the City's Allocation of Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (ACHRA) Funds for the Demolition of 6710 Highway 10 NW and 6203 Rivlyn Avenue NW

Resolution #13-02-039 authorized the use of ACHRA funds for the purchase of 6203 Rivlyn Avenue NW (Kiefer Property) in the amount of $98,000.
The property was acquired for the amount of $92,696 (purchase price and closing costs).  The city wishes to demolish this property, which will bring the total costs of purchase and demolition to approximately $107,000.  This price will include well capping and asbestos clean up if needed.  The ACHRA requires that an additional resolution be adopted to request the additional $9,000.

Resolution #13-06-108 authorized the use of ACHRA funds for the purchase of 6710 Highway 10 NW (adult bookstore) in the amount of $361,000.  The property was acquired for the amount of $362,202 (purchase price and closing costs).  The city wishes to also demolish this property which will bring the total costs of purchase and demolition to approximately $375,000.  This price will include well capping and asbestos testing.  The ACHRA requires that an additional resolution be adopted to request the additional $14,000.

In short, the total additional requested from the ACHRA will be in the amount of $23,000 for the demolition of both properties.

 

Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution #13-08-130 requesting additional funding from the ACHRA for the demolition of properties at 6710 Highway 10 NW and 6203 Rivlyn Avenue NW.
