ACTION REQUESTED:
Consider the recommendation of the Galacticon Fair Lodgers' Tax Funding Request to the City Council to open negotiations with the City of Roswell for sponsorship. (Conyers)
BACKGROUND:
Initiated by: TJ Conyers
From their application: We are requesting sponsorship of a free-to-the-public attraction(s) to be held outside the Galacticon facility to draw people to all areas of the UFO Festival footprint. We will provide appropriate and family-friendly attractions for all ages. It will be open during the Galacticon hours and overseen by the Galacticon Director. This will be the third year we have requested sponsorship and received it in both previous years.

Funding Source: In the FY26 Adopted Budget line item 26224081 672828.
$8,000 for sponsorship of Galacticon 2026.

LEGAL REVIEW:
None at this time. The Legal Department will review the sponsorship agreement before signatures are collected.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
The Occupancy Tax board recommended (5-0) to award Galacticon $8,000 in sponsorship at their July 22, 2025, meeting.;
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Proceed as presented.
