ACTION REQUESTED:
Consider the recommendation of the Galacticon and Roswell Daily Record Funding Request to the City Council in the amount of $20,000 for marketing, sanitation, and security. (Conyers)
BACKGROUND:
Initiated by: TJ Conyers
From their application: This is the fifth year that the Galacticon and the Roswell Daily Record have worked together to promote the Roswell UFO Festival, supporting the city's economy and tourism industry. After losing the Convention Center in October of 2024, we have held our activities downtown as part of the UFO Festival weekend. In 2025, the RDR supported the patriotic Aerial Drone Show for the public. The Galacticon was held in the Roswell UFO Museum Annex at 119 North Main in the former La-Z-Boy showroom, now owned by the Museum. We helped fund our part of the advertising and marketing of the event and plan to do so again.
3 years of Historical Lodgers’ Tax Funding Data: Marketing, sanitation, and security.
FY2023- No record of application
FY2024- Did not apply as a joint effort
FY2025- Awarded $20,000- Expended $11,413.13
