ACTION REQUESTED:
Consider approval of a budget adjustment in the amount of $21,794 for a lease extension of the current location for collections storage and staff. (Brooks)
BACKGROUND:
Initiated by: Caroline Brooks
The museum collection that remained in Roswell was displaced following the October 2024 flood. Property was acquired on a monthly lease with a waived fee of $1/month from November 2024 through September 2025 to accommodate the museum as part of a philanthropic contribution to the recovery efforts. Due to business needs, the property was no longer available with a fee waiver and the rental fee is cost prohibitive to stay, requiring a new location. City Council approved move to a property at the air center and preparations are underway to ensure it is conducive for the intended use. This request is to cover a two-month extension at the current location in the amount of $21,794 ($10,897/month) from February 1 through March 31, 2026 to allow additional time for preparations of the air center property.
