ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval for a budget adjustment and approval to purchase a TANA Shark DT Waste Shredder utilizing CES Contract #2022-10-C102-ALL from Four Rivers Equipment in the amount of $1,248,845.90. (Gass/Chaparro)
BACKGROUND:

The Solid Waste Department would like to buy a new TANA Shark DT Waste Shredder from Four Rivers utilizing CES Contract #2022-10-C102-ALL,
This will be utilized to shred tires at the landfill, which can then be used as Alternative Daily Cover (ADC), placed in the cell to be buried, or be sold to vendors for a variety of uses. We had a Demo between TANA and Vermeer on July 28th, 2026 to be able to compare the two pieces of equipment and the TANA vastly outstripped the Vermeer, especially in regards to shredding Tires. This piece of equipment can shred up to 25 tons of tires an hour.
Currently the landfill has an excess of 30,000 tires, and the Airport has an excess of 5,000 tires. With us advertising about the shredder, not only will Chaves County bring their tires but Lincoln County has expressed their interest of shipping their tires this way.
To buy replacement parts the City of Roswell can apply for the RAID Grant for a reimbursement.
