Discussion and possible action to authorize the sale of one (1) Glock 17 Gen 5 handgun (Asset #32731) to retiring DA Investigator in the amount of $1 pursuant to the Texas Government Code; §614.051 (Purchaes of Firearm by Honorabley retired Peace Officer) and any other matters incident thereto. Investigator honorably retired on January 31, 2025, with 27 years and 9 months of service as a peace officer in the District Attorney’s Office.
 
Issue: Peace Officer retired on January 31, 2025, and the District Attorney would like to present his gun to him as a show of appreciation to his 27 years 9 months of service to the District Attorney’s Office.  The Texas Government Code §614.051 permits government entities to sell the issued weapon that was assigned to the peace officer.
 
Solution: Authorize the sale of subject weapon to the honorably retired peace officer in accordance with Texas Gov. Code requirements.
 
Result: The peace will get the firearm presented to him as a token of appreciation
