Discussion and possible action to approve the submission of a Criminal Justice grant application (3718907) to the Office of Governor (OOG) in the amount estimated at $55,296 for overtime and applicable fringe benefits for members of the Mental Health Unit to provide mental health services and transportation to mental health facilities; and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents;including the resolution, and any other matters incident thereto. This grant does not require any type of match, and, thus, this grant will have no impact on the general fund. All required documents were sent to the Economic Development Department and were found in compliance with the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) policy. Issue: The Laredo/Webb County community remains a medically and mentally underserved area, forcing individuals with mental health needs, both young and adults, to travel to facilities outside the area to access the necessary services.

Solution: Grant application to fund overtime and applicable fringe benefits for Mental Health Unit staff to transport mental health patients to out-of-town facilities, ensuring they receive the care they need.

Result: Grant funding will enable members of the Mental Health Unit to carry out complex and time-consuming tasks, such as executing court orders, managing mental health commitments, and transporting patients to out-of-town mental health facilities, ultimately improving care for mentally ill patients, their families, and the community.
