Discussion and possible action to enter into an interjurisdictional Mutual Aid Agreement between Webb County, La Salle County, Zapata County, Dimmit County, and Jim Hogg County to share resources, personnel, and equipment in the event of a natural or man-made emergency or disaster that exhausts local capabilities; and authorizing the Webb County Judge to sign all relevant documents and any other matters incident thereto. [Requested by the Volunteer Fire Department, No impact to the general fund]

Issue: The communities of Webb County, La Salle County, Zapata County, Dimmit County, and Jim Hogg County are vulnerable to property damage, injury, and loss of life in the event of an emergency or disaster resulting from natural or man-mad hazards.

Solution: Pursuant to Chapter 791, Texas Government Code (Interlocal Cooperation Act); Chapter 418, Texas Government Code (Texas Disaster Act of 1975), and Chapter 362, Local Government Code, Webb County, La Salle County, Zapata County, Dimmit County and, Jim Hogg County would like to enter a mutual aid agreement whereby resources, personnel, and equipment are shared in the event that local resources are depleted during an emergency event or disaster.

Result: Formal agreement will allow for better coordination of effort so that adequate equipment and manpower is available during an emergency or disaster event.
