Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit a formal Invitation to Bid for the resurfacing of an approximate 0.7086 acre parking lot located at 1101 Matamoros Street to include but not limited to an asphalt overlay, sealcoating and restriping of approximately 112 parking spaces pursuant to Sub-Chapter C. Competitive Bidding Method; under the Texas Government Code; §2269.101 (Contracts for Facilities: Competitive Bids) and in accordance with §2269.102 (Use of Architect or Engineer) by designating the County Engineering Department to prepare the plans, specifications, estimated construction costs, construction administration throughout the duration of the project until closeout, subject to completion of a Phase I Environmental Study for Projects and any other matters incident thereto. [Account #1001-1130-001-470000 (General Fund-General Operating Exp-Administration-Capital Outlay)]

Issue: The Webb County Commissioners Court purchased an approximately 0.7086 acre property that will serve as a future public parking lot facility but requires improvements due to the existing conditions of the surface showing signs of deterioration of existing asphalt due to age of property.      

Solution: Consideration to authorize the Purchasing Agent to advertise a formal Invitation to Bid to secure competitive price proposals from contractors.   

Result: If approved, a recommendation to award to the lowest and responsible bidder will be presented to Commissioners Court for their consideration at a future Webb County public meeting. The proposed scope of work may be modified as directed by commissioners court final directive prior to securing sealed bid proposals.
