Discussion and possible action to authorize the Auditors to create an expenditure and revenue account for the Webb County Community Action Agency to receive funds from sponsors for the purpose of holding a Golf Tournament on May 23, 2026, to raise funds for the purchase of food for the clients of the Community Action Agency to be distributed through the Meals on Wheels & Elderly Nutrition Program, and the Pantry of Hope. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to these Meals on Wheels programs. The fundraising event will require the following requests to succeed. No impact to the general fund.

List of Requests:
•   Authorize the planning and hosting of a Meals-on-Wheels Benefit Golf Tournament as a fundraising event.
•   Authorize the use of the Lake Casa Blanca Golf Course.
•   Authorize an expenditure/revenue account for the Meals-on-Wheels Benefit Golf Tournament.
•   Establish a dedicated budget line for food expenses, to be funded solely by donations generated through this event.

Issue: The Webb County Community Action Agency’s Meals on Wheels program provides daily nutritious meals and vital wellness checks to vulnerable seniors in our community. As the demand for services continues to grow, additional funding is critical to sustain and expand our ability to serve those in need.

Solution: The agency is proposing to hold a Benefit Golf Tournament to take place at the Lake Casa Blanca Golf Course, to raise funds exclusively for the Meals on Wheels Program. This event will be made possible through the support of community donors and sponsors, who will help pay for the tournament expenses.

Results: The proceeds from the players' entry fees will go directly toward the food account, which will be directly used for purchasing nutritious foods for the Meals-on-Wheels program clients.
