Discussion and possible action to authorize a new temporary slot (From October to December 2024) to prepare, for a period of three months, the individual who will fill the vacancy of the Associate Judge once Judge David Garcia takes office on January 1, 2025.
Issue: The current associate district judge will take his new office effective January 1, 2025, and it will create a vacancy. The judges would like to hire a replacement to fill the position at least 60 days before the vacancy occurs to allow the new person to receive training regarding our magistration process so that they can have a smooth transition in January 2025.
Solution: Create a temporary slot to prepare, for a period of three months, the individual who will fill the vacancy once Judge David Garcia takes his new office.
Result: The hired individual will be prepared to take on his responsibilities as the Associate Judge for the District Courts, in particular the magistration duties.
