Discussion and possible action to accept the FY 2024 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) award from the City of Laredo (A Department of Justice Grant), in the amount of $28,733.50 for the purchase of equipment, minor tools, and supplies; and authorizing the Webb County Judge to execute all relevant documents related to this grant; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant does not require any type of match, and, thus, has no impact on the general fund. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: Supplemental equipment, training/travel, and supplies will allow the Webb County Sheriff’s Office to provide better and more enhanced law enforcement services.

Solution: Grant award to provide supplemental equipment, training/travel, and supplies for the Webb County Sheriff’s Office.

Result: The Webb County Sheriff’s Office and its staff will be equipped with needed new equipment, training/travel, and supplies.

This grant was applied for and awarded in conjunction with the City of Laredo.
