Discussion and possible action to authorize the Economic Development Department to develop and submit a 2025-2035 Webb County Recreation Master Plan for submission to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for their approval and authorize the Webb County Judge to appoint a Recreation Master Plan Committee to oversee the development of this plan.

Issue: The existing Webb County Recreation Master Plan is from 2015-2025 and needs to be updated/replaced.

Solution: Appoint a Recreation Master Planning Committee of appropriate size to work in conjunction with the Economic Development staff, oversee progress and provide direction and input into the development process.

Result: To develop a plan to be adopted by the County and submitted to the State for their approval. A state-approved plan will give future project applications additional consideration.

Webb County will be eligible for up to twenty (20) points out of one hundred (100) points in indoor or outdoor TPWD recreational applications. Furthermore, Webb County shall achieve the following identified goals: to provide equitable distribution of recreational opportunities throughout the County of Webb; to address the infrastructure restoration needs of existing county-owned recreational facilities; utilization of county-owned land as the most effective means of improving recreation and recreational activities; and to inventory/identify, protect and maintain physical, cultural and natural resources that are unique to Webb County
