Discussion and possible action to approve the use of the contingency allowance as stipulated under §4.3 (allowances) under the construction agreement between Webb County and Midas Contractors LLC., in an amount not to exceed $25,120.00 for additional Architectural services to design two (2) new parking lots for ARPA Project No. 0008 – Community Action Agency Administration, Social Services and Meals on Wheels Facility Project and to further authorize the Webb County Judge to sign any relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. Issue: The additional parking spaces are needed for customers. These services will include; Programming/Schematic Design/Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Phase.

Solution: Consideration to authorize the use of $25,120.00 from the owner's contingency allowance funds to: Scope for additional services includes the design of two (2) new parking lots. One parking lot at the existing Rotunda and another north of the Community Action Agency building. There will be a total of 29 parking spaces. 16 parking spots at the Rotunda location and 13 spots north of the building. Also, as part of the project there will be a new walkway from the existing building to the existing basketball court. The walkway will need to include a culvert in order to keep the drainage ways that exist in the site. A survey will also be included for the additional site components.

Result: If approved, the Contractor will be authorized to use the owner's contingency amount as approved by Commissioners Court.  There will be no increase or decrease to the original contract sum.
