Discussion and possible action to approve the purchase of thirty (30) sets of bunker gear from Casco Industries, Inc., (Buy-Board #698-23) for an amount not to exceed $122,999.80 for the Webb County Fire Department in accordance with the Texas Local Government Code; Section 271.101 & 271.102 (Sub-Chapter F. Cooperative Purchasing Program) with further action to transfer funds from Capital Outlay to Account #1001-3140-001-460105 (Minor Tools & Apparatus); and any other matters incident thereto. [Account #1001-3140-001-470000 (General Fund-Fire & EMS Services-Administration-Capital Outlay)]

Issue: The Webb County Fire Department needs to replace thirty (30) sets of bunker gear that will soon expire.

Solution: Consideration to authorize the purchase of new bunker gear, also known as personal protective equipment (PPE) for firefighters.  This request is budgeted under the FY 2025 budget within the Fire Department’s budget.

Result: Upon court approval, the order for the PPE will be placed.  New PPE will provide up-to-date gear for firefighters to protect themselves from the heat, flames, and other hazards of firefighting.
