Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on approving the transition of the C & L pay grade charts to the B grade chart.
Background
The County currently has four pay grade charts. The "B" grade chart is the standard non-law enforcement pay chart and employees receive pay increases annually based on their performance/merit, if funding is approved by Commissioner's Court. The "L" grade chart is utilized for Law Enforcement positions and it is a tenured step chart which advances to the next step each year if approved by the Commissioner's Court. The "C" grade chart is utilized for Corrections Officer's positions and it is a tenured step chart which advances to the next step each year if approved by Commissioner's Court. The "EX" grade chart is utilized for Elected Officials and Executive level positions in the County. This discussion is to consider transitioning the L and C charts into the B chart and therefore, changing the annual pay increase process from a tenured step chart to a performance based pay increase process.
