Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action approving the retirement of K-9 Harry and selling him to handler, Douglas Barner, for the sum of $1.00.

Dr. Shane Daigle, DVM has confirmed that 9 year old, K-9 Harry has back and hip disease that is constantly progressing and is in moderate amount of pain. Harry is off and weak in the back legs causing his inability to work like he has in the past as well as lost interest in his daily performances. Dr. Daigle stated it has reached a point where medical intervention is no longer proving to be affective and has recommended that Harry be retired which will be a benefit to Harry, the handler and WCSO. Dr. Daigle has stated that Harry's handler, Deputy Douglas Barner has exemplified what it means to be a devoted canine handler and that Deputy Barner and Harry are truly partners in every sense of the word.

It is requested that Commissioners consider selling K-9 Harry to his handler, Deputy Douglas Barner for the sum of $1.00. Deputy Barner will be responsible for Harry's medical and food expenses. Deputy Barner will also assume personal ownership and liabilities. K-9 Harry was an asset forfeiture fund purchase.
