Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on approving purchase for one (1) Mac Vu360EKG machine in the amount of $18,115.12, exempting the item from competitive bidding requirements as per Texas Local Govt. Code Discretionary Exemption 262.024(a)(2)[an item necessary to preserve and protect the public health or safety of the residents of the County], and authorizing the execution of the agreement.
Background
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the need to manage jail medical exams inside the jail when possible has become a priority for the health and safety of the jail occupants as well as the general public. The purchase of this device will allow exams to take place onsite at the jail, hence, limiting unnecessary exposure. Details of the recommended purchases are attached herein.
