Agenda Item
Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to authorize the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to accept the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) FY2023 Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Comprehensive Grant.
Background
The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Comprehensive Grant provides funding for overtime enforcement activities within high-crash areas throughout the fiscal year, with special focus and media opportunities during five holiday periods.
On December 21, 2021, the Court approved the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to apply for this grant (agenda item #60). TXDOT has approved the application and the Sheriff's Office is seeking approval from the Court to accept the grant. If the grant is accepted, Williamson County will be reimbursed up to $49,858.42 for overtime costs associated with these enforcement activities. The required match of approximately $12,528.08 will be met through administrative costs related to the implementation of the grant and fringe benefits on overtime. The total grant will be approximately $62,386.50. Attached is the grant agreement (not a binding document) and Electronic Signature Authorization Form required to accept this grant.
Staff recommends the following action: Give approval to accept the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) FY2023 Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Comprehensive Grant and authorize appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
