Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to recognize Julie Lahr, Community Health Provider with the Mobile Outreach Team as the recipient of 2017 JEMS "EMS10: Innovators in EMS award."

Background

The Journal of Emergency Medical Services, in partnership with Physio-Control, Inc., a leading provider of emergency medical response technologies worldwide, announced the winners of the EMS10: Innovators in EMS awards. THE EMS10 winners were recognized on February 20, 2018, during the EMS Today Conference & Exposition in Charlotte, NC. The ten recipients of the award demonstrated innovation in moving the level of EMS care forward for 2017 and were judged on the following criteria:

Introduced or published a new clinical or operational program or concept that constitutes an extraordinary contribution to pre-hospital emergency medicine; Revised a local protocol or standard operating procedure (SOP) that significantly enhanced the efficiency, safety or quality of EMS care or the work environment for EMS personnel;
Implemented a unique educational model or recruitment and retention program that drastically increased or improved the local workforce; Spearheaded the development of a new state or regional group or agreement in an effort to improve preparedness for major incidents.
A panel of professional EMS colleagues and peers selected the distinguished winners, who each displayed initiative, creative thinking, action-orientation and a desire to positively impact EMS, patients and their communities.
Julie was given this award in recognition for her development of the M&M pilot program.  M&M partners Mental Health Specialists with Medics to provide an expedited response to citizens suffering from a behavioral health crisis.
