To discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on the acceptance of grant funded unmanned areal systems (UAS), comprehensive UAS training and UAS program development on behalf of Williamson County and local public safety agencies.
Background
A fully funded grant program, utilizing funds from the Department of Homeland Security and private donors, has offered to aid Williamson County to begin the development of a comprehensive robotics program. Support will be in the form of unmanned areal systems (UAS) with cutting edge technology proven to support All-Hazards incidents, comprehensive pilot training program, and assistance with comprehensive program development. This project is part of a larger program that is covering much of the IH 35 corridor from San Antonio to Williamson County. Additionally, this will further the development of the regional robotics workgroup to standardize the all programs operating in the Capital Area Council of Government's region. Agencies in both Hays County and Travis County have approved this program or are in discussions to do so.
