10:00am Conduct a public hearing related to a request from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regarding the assignment of employees in the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) department.

Background

In accordance with Williamson County Compensation Policy this request is being put before the Commissioners Court for consideration.  The EMS department utilizes paramedics that work on demand ambulances which are utilized to offset the work load of other emergent resources in the EMS department.  Demand ambulances are in service and staffed during the day, which results in a different schedule than 24-hour ambulances.  The hourly rate for the employee is modified when they move from a 24-hour ambulance to a demand ambulance to accommodate for the different number of regular and overtime hours.  EMS is asking to move one employee and maintain one employee on a demand ambulance.  The change in hourly rate is outside of the established guidelines for promotion as defined by the Williamson County Compensation Policy.  The personnel being moved fall under the budgeted amount for the PCN.
