Background
This Change Order provides payment to the Contractor for additional work required in front of the Center Maintenance office to bring the sidewalk into compliance with ADA requirements. Existing sidewalk was removed, the area graded, and new sidewalk was placed back at the correct slopes. Handrail and curb were also installed. Due to the handrail having to be installed, the mailbox cluster had to be relocated and a new concrete pad placed. All related items to relocating the mailbox are being paid under the existing concrete riprap item. Due to the timing of this work, there was an inflation in cost related to the rail. New concrete curb was required along the edge of the sidewalk due to the new slope of the sidewalk going into the building. In addition to the actual mobilization for the new work, miscellaneous items are included in this cost for haul-off of excess spoils, lowering and repairing the electrical conduit under the sidewalk, and having to progress the work in halves per the County's request to keep half of the sidewalk open at all times.
