Conduct a public hearing relating to a retention request from the Technology Services Department to increase the budgeted salary amount for the position of IT Security Engineer, PCN #0968 and discuss (1) the reason for the salary increase in excess of the budgeted amount to include the public purpose that will be served by approving the request; and (2) the exact amount of the additional salary request, the source of payment and the schedule for implementation.

1. The reason for the requested increase in salary above the budgeted amount is to retain this individual for the Technology Services Department.  Cybersecurity is in very high demand and is ever more important to County operations, and the County will be well-served by retaining the individual.
2. The additional requested annual salary amount is $8,104.54. Staff recommends that funds for the adjusted salary amount come from PCN #1682, which is proposed to be reclassed in another agenda item. Funds are currently allocated in the Technology Services budget, so no additional funds are requested. There is no impact to the overall budget. The effective date will be 2/18/2022 if approved.
