Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $73,007.39 for Project T3346 Southeast Loop Phase 1 (James Construction Group) P: 463 Funding Source: Road Bond.

Background

This Change Order addresses various changes to the project. Below is a list of the necessary changes being made.
  1. Additional driveways have been added due to new development along the right-of-way (ROW). This will allow for the new developments to tie-in to the proposed roadway. This Change Order increases the drainage pipe quantity to address the additional driveways.  
  2. A detour was added to maintain access to the newly constructed Bridge Church. In addition to the detour, quantity was added for tying in the driveways that were constructed prior to the start of construction that were not shown in the project plans.
  3. Due to the added driveway for a new development just east of the Bridge Church, Wall 2 was shortened. The drainage in this area is also being adjusted to accommodate the new driveway.
  4. The SCS Pond 21 area required additional excavation to increase the volume of the pond so that bridge bents 4 and 5 of the bridge at SCS Pond 21 can be constructed.
  5. The flow line of Line “EA” at Wall 4 was adjusted to maximize the flow of water.
  6. The inside concrete traffic rail on both bridges was switched to C221 type rail, to give the bridge a more uniform appearance and some rail was removed from Wall 2 due to a driveway added for a development that crosses the ROW.

Revised plan sheets are also being issued with this Change Order, per the necessary changes listed above.

This Change Order results in a net increase of $73,007.39 to the Contract amount, for an adjusted Contract total of $11,748,506.83. The original Contract amount was $11,526,789.09. As a result of this and all Change Orders to-date, $221,717.74 has been added to the Contract, resulting in a 1.92% net increase in the overall Contract cost.
