Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on exemption to policy for position salary change for Juvenile Services.

Juvenile Services is requesting an exemption to the policy to allow the department to utilize surplus salary to increase the salary for a vacant position.  The department currently has a JPO II position vacant, PCN 1028.  We have selected an employee, John Rinn, to fill the vacancy. However, Mr. Rinn has been with the department 7 years and is already making more than the salary budgeted for the JPO II position he was selected for.  We are requesting an increase of $2,298.36 to PCN 1028 to provide Mr. Rinn a salary increase when he is promoted to his new position.         

Attached is the spreadsheet for the transfer of dollars between positions.  The amount requested to be transferred is within county policy. The exception is due to the request being past the February 15th deadline per policy.
