Information
Agenda Item
Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on vehicle standardization of Williamson County fleet.
Background
On the February 26th, 2019 agenda, an item was submitted to recommend the Chevrolet Tahoe as the standard vehicle for all law enforcement deputies. The item was approved with the caveat that we ensure and allow for "flexibility". Over the past couple of years, and more so recently, we have had requests from our Constable Offices for a truck instead of a Tahoe due to "environmental" responsibilities. This is not unlike the exceptions made within our Sheriff's Office for other deputies based on job specifications. The Fleet Committee is proposing the approval of 1) no more than two trucks per Constable Office, 2) trucks must be assigned to a deputy whose job responsibilities require 50% or more environmental work, and 3) the truck cannot be assigned to an elected official i.e. the Constable. The recommended vehicle is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 PPV/SSV, Ford F-150 Police Responder or like vehicle (should the former be unavailable). This recommendation is in line with other County Fleet makes/models.
