Discuss, consider and take appropriate action authorizing the Williamson County Sheriff to execute Vehicle Use and Reimbursement Agreements with third parties for the use of Williamson County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles to provide off-duty traffic safety operations in relation to exigent situations upon the condition that Williamson County's standard form of Vehicle Use and Reimbursement Agreements are not modified and that each signed Vehicle Use and Reimbursement Agreement is placed on the next upcoming Williamson County Commissioners Court agenda for ratification.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is contacted from time to time to provide off-duty traffic safety operations in relation to exigent type situations. Currently, Vehicle Use and Reimbursement Agreements are placed on the Commissioners Court's agenda in advance for a planned future event or need. An issue arises when there is a need which is unplanned and of an exigent nature arises, and time does not allow for the placement of an agenda item on a Commissioners Court agenda. The Williamson County Sheriff is requesting authority to execute Williamson County's standard form Vehicle Use and Reimbursement Agreement, without modification, with a third party and, thereafter, place the signed agreement on the next upcoming agenda for the Commissioners Court's ratification. This type of authority would only be used to address unique circumstances that require law enforcement action to mitigate a possible hazard to the public or allow for the safe movement of vehicles. Future planned events will continue to be placed on a prior agenda for approval by the Commissioners Court.
