Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action to approve the Service Order and Contract #2025299 between Williamson County and Astound Business Solutions, LLC for the installation of an internet connection for the Williamson County Jail located at 306 W 4th Street, Georgetown, Tx 78626, in the amount of $880.00, pursuant to TIPS Cooperative Contract #230105, and authorizing the execution of the service order.
Background
This Service Order will benefit the County by providing an additional internet connection at the Williamson County Jail to reduce reliance on the current provider, Spectrum (formerly Suddenlink). The Jail's internet service currently runs exclusively on this single connection, which creates a risk of service interruption. To mitigate this risk, the County has acquired a solution called BigLeaf, which supports multiple ISP connections and allows seamless fail over and load balancing between providers. The Astound connection will serve as a secondary line, enhancing redundancy and network reliability. This is approved by the Auditor's Office and Information Technology Services. The funding source is 01.0100.0503.004210 for FY25. Origination #3111. The department's point of contact is Rory Tierney.
