Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on the engagement of the law firm of Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta LLP to represent Williamson County and William Russell Barrett in relation to the matter of Cause No. 25-1798-C26; Derrick Smith v. Williamson County, Texas, et al.; In the 26th Judicial District Court of Williamson County, Texas; and exemption of these services from the competitive bid/proposal requirements of the County Purchasing Act pursuant to the discretionary exemption for personal or professional services, as set forth under Texas Local Government Code § 262.024(a)(4), and finding that funding such agreement as to William Russell Barrett serves a public interest and not merely a private interest, and that any alleged act or omission of said party in relation to the allegations asserted in this lawsuit was performed while acting in good faith and within the scope of his official duties as a Williamson County employee.
