Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on a resolution congratulating the Daniel Coleman Chapter, Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), on their 100th anniversary as the oldest DAR chapter in Williamson County.

Background

The Daniel Coleman Chapter, Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution, celebrated their 100th anniversary on Dec. 14, 2025. As part of their anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the United States of America in 2026, the Daniel Coleman Chapter brought the American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit to Williamson County in December. The exhibit is hosted by the Williamson Museum from Dec. 10 to Dec. 20, 2025. The Williamson Museum is located at 716 S. Austin Avenue in Georgetown and is open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will then be divided and shared from Dec. 21 to Jan. 2 at the Georgetown Public Library, 402 W. 8th Street, and the Round Rock Public Library, 200 E. Liberty Ave. In addition, Williamson County purchased panels to share the contributions of the forefathers of Williamson County’s early settlers.

The traveling exhibit is a partnership between the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Battlefield Trust. The American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit was created to bring to life the diverse viewpoints and experiences of those who witnessed the dawn of a new nation. Visitors can hear the stories of drummer boys, military map makers and other ordinary people affected by the Revolutionary War using touch-screen kiosks, stories, drawings, technology and artifacts. The exhibit was purchased by the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), who created two additional panels that share the contributions of what is now Texas to the Revolutionary War. The exhibit will tour the state as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026.
