Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action to deem that the public purpose of the Funding Agreement Between Williamson County, Texas and Williamson County Fair Association, being dated effective January 1, 2020, has been achieved, and exercise the authority under Section 2.B. of the Funding Agreement Between Williamson County, Texas and Williamson County Fair Association to forgive the reimbursement obligation associated with the original seed funding of $100,000 that was provided to the Williamson County Fair Association.

Over the past five years, the Williamson County Fair and Rodeo Association has fulfilled—and exceeded—the public purpose of supporting, encouraging, promoting, and maintaining agricultural educational functions for youth in Williamson County, Texas and the history of agricultural in Williamson County, Texas through use of the County’s $100,000 seed funding.  The Williamson County Fair and Rodeo has become one of Williamson County’s premier agricultural and educational events, providing thousands of residents and students with opportunities to learn about agriculture, livestock, farming practices, and the County’s agricultural heritage through exhibits, competitions, demonstrations, and rodeo events.

In addition, the Williamson County Fair and Rodeo Association has awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships to Williamson County students pursuing agricultural, technical, trade, and academic degrees, while also establishing a scholarship endowment to support future generations. The Williamson County Fair and Rodeo’s continued growth in attendance, youth participation, volunteer involvement, educational programming, and scholarship funding demonstrates the lasting public benefit generated through the County’s investment.

Based on these accomplishments, the Williamson County Fair and Rodeo Association respectfully requests that the Williamson County Commissioners Court determine that the public purpose of the funding agreement has been met, exceeded, and exercise its authority under Section 2.B. of the Funding Agreement Between Williamson County, Texas and Williamson County Fair Association to forgive the reimbursement obligation associated with the original seed funding.

The Williamson County Fair and Rodeo Association remains committed to the public purpose of promoting agricultural education, supporting youth achievement, preserving Williamson County’s agricultural heritage, and serving the community for years to come.
