Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding the engagement of the law firm of D. Randall Montgomery & Associates, PLLC to represent former Williamson County employee, Anthony Martinez, in his individual capacity as a defendant in Civil Action No. 1:24-cv-01183; Johnny Joe Tijerina v. Andrew Rodriguez, et al.; in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division; and exemption of these services from the competitive bid/proposal requirements of the County Purchasing Act pursuant to the discretionary exemption for personal or professional services, as set forth under Texas Local Government Code § 262.024(a)(4); and further find that funding such agreement serves a public interest and not merely a private interest, and that any alleged act or omission of said party in relation to the allegations asserted in this lawsuit was performed while acting in good faith and within the scope of his official duties as an employee of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office (per Texas Attorney General Opinion DM-0488).
