Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action to make two semi-annual Williamson County Employee Food Drives official county employee events to be conducted in November and May of each year.

For each of the last two years, a food drive has been held in November, to which county employees have generously donated. Due to the ever-increasing rate of food insecurity across Williamson County, we propose holding two food drives- one in November and the other in May for two weeks each month. Little known fact:  food donations drop off in the summer, hence a food drive in May. By making this an official county employee event, we would have the ability to better market these food drives to our employees and hopefully, have a greater amount of donated shelf-stable food. 9 - 10 departments across the county will be chosen as collection points, and the Jester Annex will be the place where all food will be collected for final distribution to various food banks and pantries located in every commissioner precinct.
