Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on setting the calendar for the 2026-2027 county budget.

In past years, we have adopted a budget on the last day of Tuesday during the month of August.  Calculation of the tax rate and estimation of revenue are extremely important and complicated processes and must be completed prior to releasing budget recommendations.  The process of revenue and tax rate estimation/calculation relies on numbers from the Comptroller's office and certification of values, both not required to be released until July 25th.  A minimum of one week is needed to work through numbers after they are received.  In order to release budget recommendations, have adequate time to get notices advertised, place required items on our website, submit agenda items with the new cutoff time and present to the court, we are requesting to adopt budget on the first Tuesday in September going forward (unless the month of August provides five Tuesdays) to allow adequate time for these calculations to take place.  A second option, to keep budget adoption on the last Tuesday of August each year, would be to have only one Budget Modification Voting Session (instead of two) or to have two Budget Modification Voting Sessions in one week.
