Agenda Item
Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on approving a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Texas Joint Counterdrug Task Force (JCDTF) for counterdrug operational support and authorize execution of the MOU by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
Background
The Sheriff's Office currently has a Counterdrug Analyst working with our Organized Crime Unit (OCU) and want to continue with this partnership. This MOU will expire on September 30, 2027. A Counterdrug Analyst is a specialist who supports a drug unit by providing intelligence and analytical support. They focus on information, patterns and strategy by intelligence gathering, data analysis, case support, strategic support and coordination with other agencies such as DEA, FBI, Border Patrol and State/local Police. They help share intelligence and coordinate multi-agency operations. The Counterdrug Analyst is instrumental in helping the OCU find patterns and guide operations so detectives can more effectively target drug traffickers and criminal networks.
