Discuss, consider and take appropriate action authorizing the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to accept funding through the Office of the Governor's (OOG) FY2026 Bullet-Resistant Components for Law Enforcement Vehicles grant.
Public Background
On November 4, 2025, Commissioners Court approved the Sheriff's Office to apply for funding through the OOG's FY2026 Bullet-Resistant Components for Law Enforcement Vehicles grant (agenda item #52). We are seeking approval from the court to accept an award of $165,816.00 to purchase bullet-resistant windshields, side glass and door panels for 18 patrol vehicles. This grant requires no match. Staff recommends the following action: Approve the Sheriff's Office to accept funds through the FY2026 Bullet-Resistant Components for Law Enforcement Vehicles grant and authorize appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
